"...the golden age of Florence Broadhurst is just beginning" (Sydney Morning Herald).

From inauspicious beginnings as the daughter of a cattle farmer, Florence Broadhurst continually reinvented herself thoughout her colourful life as she moved from vaudeville performer to couturier - Madame Pellier in 1930's London. She was in her 60's when she launched her wallpaper business but her designs took off like wildfire. Florence Broadhurst abandoned convention and the restrictions of mass production, leaving the traditional, conservative handprinted wallpapers behind. Instead she created hundreds of unique and luxurious patterns. She combined fuscia pinks, lemon yellows, lime greens, vivid oranges, turquoise, blacks, metallic silvers and gold – all perfectly matching her own flamboyant personality. In Florence's life and her artistic evolution it is almost impossible to separate fact from fiction with the roller coaster ride reaching a shocking end with her, as yet, unsolved murder in 1977.
